General: I have made it plain I don't like war, but in my considered opinion it's the only option Saddam has left anyone. You'd be better off bitterly questioning why Saddam refused all of the chances he's had, and why the French since 1998 have tried to delay just as much and who even now envisions some ridiculous 'deadline' that has no force to back it up.

To the extent that the U.S. has backed up their words which the French government seems genetically incapable of doing, yes, I'm glad that action is imminent.

Russia is entitled to their opinion - last time I checked, however, we don't normally allow Russia to dictate our foreign policy.

By the way, WHAT was the number of the UN resolution that allows the Russians to be fighting against Chechnyan rebels?

The US does NOT back up their word. From watching CNN you would think so...history and alternate media channels (right and left alike) show a different picture.
They promised peace and rights for women in Afghanistan. They promised democracy for Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Grenada, etc. etc etc. These countries received no better than US pawn who would rather murder their own citizens to make Uncle Sam happy than advocate structural reform in their own country.
Don't come at me with the lie that the "US, unlike France," practices what it preaches. The only difference is that to its citizens within, the US lies, and without, it tells a truth far from democracy and justice.

>War wanters get your thrill

If there is a war it is Saddam's fault! Bush will give him another chance to avoid war again tonight -- 72 hrs to leave...

Did you hear/read what the President said??

"The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well-being of his people, the peace of his region, the security of the world. The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government"

Who is Bushy to tell a man to leave his country? You think Bush would leave if anyone told him too?

The real question, Gen., is do you agree with the President's statement?

I do not agree. He threatens the rich because of his ownership of Oil.

Applies moreso to Bush!

What connection does W.J. Clinton have to "oil"?

It pays his salary Frank. Our Government needs Oil to pay their salaries Frank. They need Oil to run roughshot over the world Frank. He is a product of a system Frank. A system that needs oil like we need food Frank. A system that needs oil like we need water Frank.

Truth is, they need it to support their greed Frank.

Greed is at the bottom of all of this crap Frank.

Nice obfuscation there General...

But you wrote:

>Who is Bushy to tell a man to leave his country?

>He threatens the rich because of his ownership of Oil.

I said President! Not Bush... These words are from President Clinton!!

Jesus Frank,

We've heard Bush say the same thing day after day.

Clinton knew there wasnt enough reason for a WAR.

I think you just want war so you will have something to watch on tv and get a thrill from. If you were in that region, you would be scared to death & not talk so big.

>Clinton knew there wasnt enough reason for a WAR

Explain the difference between war and using 600+ bombs on Iraq? That is what Clinton did.

More Clinton, "Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors."

Dropping bombs via air is not taking a risk on 250,000 US troops. Bush does not care about our troops as much as he does the oil fields. The Bush family is about to have its last hooray here. Thank god, there is no other Bush in line for this office.

cnn, nbc, abc, and cbs all have offices in the pentagon.
should make you think twice about using the above as "decent" sources.

Frank, if you are so worried about The iraqi people, which shows a concern for innocent in general, why do you not speak of the way the many americans are treated right here. i never see you defending the american people in poverty, homelessness, of starvation, but you are quick to worry over Iraqi's. I do not see you concerned over the chinese, or the Africans. Why? People are people.

December 20, 1998

Warplanes aboard the USS Enterprise, combined with more than 200 cruise missiles from eight Navy warships, converged on Iraqi targets at 5:06 p.m. EST (1:06 a.m. Baghdad time). Over a four-day period, reports U.S. Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni, who oversaw the Iraq attack, 300 strike fighters, bombers and support aircraft flew 600 sorties, more than half of them at night. Another 40 ships took part in the attack, with 10 of them firing cruise missiles. More than 600 bombs were dropped, 90 cruise missiles fired from the air and another 300 from ships at sea.

General, THAT aint war?
